The Victorian V combines elegant design and skillful workmanship. This imported, hand carved, tall grandfather clock case is made of mahogany solids and veneers with an old English antique finish, accented with lovely brass hardware. The split pediment is decorated with fine scrollwork, accented with a large flame patterned finial, with four smaller corner finials. The rest of the case is extensively carved with numerous flowers, clamshell, rope and petal designs. The 18th century styled legs have large ball and claw feet. All six panels of glass are beveled. The beveled glass on the lower front door is scalloped to parallel the carvings at the upper sides and across the top of the door. The top side doors allow easy access to the movement cavity. The faceplate dial is double metal over metal. The front spandrel corner quadrants and center disk are very ornate. Solid brass dial with raised numerals. The 29 1/2 day rotating lunar dial is a deep cobalt blue, with beautifully etched gold moons. Large weight driven 8 day triple chime German movement, with self beat adjustment and ornate pendulum. Melodies are Westminster, Whittington and St. Michael chimes.
